San Marcos Basketball is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to form starter basketball players for middle and high school teams in San Marcos, Carlsbad, Vista, Encinitas, and Escondido. If you are passionate about basketball and coaching, you can be part of our mission by volunteering your time. Here’s why you should join us:

Plan and run basketball practices 2 times a week, plus games on weekends. You’ll gain valuable experience working with youth teams.
Help with running 2 practices per week, plus games on weekends. Learn from experienced coaches and gain the experience you need to become one.
If you’re a family member or someone who wants to support us, you can help us raise funds for scholarships, tournaments, equipment, and more.

We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about basketball and coaching, and who can set a positive example for our local youth teams. They should be reliable and committed to supporting players' development.
Anyone who has experience playing basketball, whether a high school or college student, a family member, a former coach, or a community member who wants to support us, can apply to become a volunteer.
Experience coaching is a plus, but not required. We need volunteers who understand the fundamentals of basketball and have experience playing. Patience, communication, and leadership skills are also required when working with youth teams.

Yes. Students who volunteer with San Marcos Basketball can receive community service hours for high school or college applications, and volunteer coaches can get a certificate after one year of service.
